Eko Flavours Junior is the school-based edition of the Eko Flavours competition, created to discover and nurture culinary talent among secondary school students across Lagos. It offers a unique platform for young minds to explore the art of cooking, showcase their creativity, and develop real-world food skills within a fun, structured, and educational environment.

Eko Flavours Junior immerses students in exciting cook-offs, and mentorship sessions led by seasoned chefs and nutritionists. Each stage is designed to build confidence, encourage innovation, and promote awareness of Nigerian food heritage in a format tailored to the energy and curiosity of teenage participants.

Kickoff & Registration

We officially launch the Junior edition! Schools across Lagos can now register their students for the competition. Forms and participation details are distributed to schools through official channels and our digital platforms.

June 2025
Sensitization & District Prep

Our team embarks on sensitization tours across schools, educating students and staff about the competition. At the same time, district-level planning begins, setting the stage for high-energy, local cook-offs.

July
Grand Finale Phase

Finalists from across Lagos come together for a thrilling week of cook-offs, workshops, and live showcases. The competition culminates in a spectacular Grand Finale event where the Eko Flavours Junior champions are crowned.

Eko Flavours Junior is Lagos State’s premier school-based culinary competition designed to discover young cooking talent, promote healthy food culture, and spotlight culinary creativity among children aged 8–16.

The competition is open to secondary school students in Lagos aged 8–16. Schools are selected through education districts, and participation is coordinated through official school channels.

This year’s theme highlights the role of young chefs in shaping the future of food in Africa. It celebrates their creativity, resilience, and potential to become culinary leaders.

Beyond cooking, students learn teamwork, time management, creativity under pressure, presentation skills, and the cultural significance of the meals they prepare. It’s a holistic development experience.

Schools are nominated through Lagos education districts and onboarded via sensitization tours. Each district will host its own mini-competition before the top teams proceed to the grand finale.
