Chef Isaiah Oyede Wins N5m Eko Flavours Food Competition

The 2024 edition of the Eko Flavours culinary competition culminated in a grand finale at the Fresh Food Hub in Idi Oro, Mushin, Lagos, where Chef Isaiah Oyede emerged as the Eko Flavours Champion. Competing against 150 talented participants, Oyede’s exceptional culinary skills earned him the prestigious title and a ₦5 million cash prize.

Organized by the Lagos State Ministry of Agriculture and Food Systems in collaboration with Tantacom Group, the competition aimed to showcase the diverse culinary talents within the state. First runner-up, Omobonike Awosanmi, received ₦3 million, while second runner-up, Oreoluwakitan Badejo, was awarded ₦1 million. Ibidun Layade and Enitan Akorede secured the fourth and fifth positions, receiving ₦600,000 and ₦400,000 respectively.

The event was graced by notable dignitaries, including the First Lady of Lagos State, Dr. (Mrs.) Ibijoke Sanwo-Olu, and the wife of the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Oluremi Hamzat. Commissioner for Agriculture and Food Systems, Ms. Abisola Olusanya, commended all participants for their creativity and dedication, highlighting the competition’s alignment with Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s THEMES+ agenda to empower youth and promote food security in the state.

Chef Oyede expressed his gratitude, stating, “Winning the Eko Flavours food competition is a dream come true. I have been on this cooking journey for so long, and I am grateful to the Lagos State Government for this opportunity.

The Eko Flavours competition continues to serve as a platform for chefs and food enthusiasts to showcase their talents, celebrate Nigerian cuisine, and contribute to the state’s vibrant food culture.
