- Business challenge
- One challenge I would love for Eko Flavors to help me overcome is taking my culinary creativity from being something I primarily share with my audience into a bigger and more recognised culinary platform. I have the passion, ideas and love for Nigerian flavours, but I want to grow my confidence, sharpen my skills and gain more exposure in a competitive culinary environment. Eko Flavors would give me the opportunity to challenge myself, learn from other talented food creatives and prove to myself that my creativity in the kitchen can take me further. I believe the experience would help me move beyond the limitations of simply creating from my own kitchen and give me the confidence and platform to pursue my bigger food dreams.
Culinary journey
My culinary journey began with love. I started cooking for my then-boyfriend, who is now my husband, and what began as a simple way of expressing love through food gradually grew into a genuine passion for cooking. Over the years, I became more adventurous in the kitchen, experimenting with flavours, creating recipes and putting my own twist on familiar dishes. That passion eventually evolved into my food business and my journey as a food and recipe content creator, where I share my love for Nigerian cuisine, homemade recipes and creative food ideas. Today, cooking is more than just something I do—it is a part of who I am. It allows me to express my creativity, connect with people and celebrate the beauty and diversity of food.
Cooking inspiration
My biggest inspiration is the joy of creating food that brings people together. I’m inspired by Nigerian flavours, the meals I grew up with, my family, and the endless possibilities of transforming familiar ingredients into something exciting and delicious. I also love experimenting with different flavours and techniques and turning simple ingredients into meals that feel special. Most importantly, seeing people enjoy something I have created inspires me to keep learning, creating and pushing myself in the kitchen.
Signature dish
My signature dish is my Coconut-Infused Jollof Rice, served with Coconut-Milk Chicken and sweet plantain with a coconut sauce drizzle. What makes my dish unique is how I incorporate coconut into the cooking process. Instead of boiling my chicken with regular water and seasoning, I cook it in coconut milk, allowing the chicken to absorb its rich, creamy flavour. I then use the flavourful coconut-infused chicken stock created from that process to cook my jollof rice, giving the rice a subtle but distinctive coconut taste from within. I love taking familiar Nigerian dishes and reimagining them with creative techniques while keeping their comforting, authentic character. This dish represents my cooking style—creative, flavour-driven and rooted in familiar Nigerian flavours with an unexpected twist.
Why I want to participate
I want to participate in Eko Flavors because I see it as an opportunity to challenge myself creatively, showcase my cooking and share my unique interpretation of Nigerian flavours with a wider audience. I am passionate about transforming familiar dishes into exciting experiences while staying connected to the flavours and food culture that inspire me. I also want to learn from other talented food creators, grow my culinary skills and gain valuable exposure as I continue building my journey as a food entrepreneur and content creator. Most importantly, I want to create something memorable that represents my passion, creativity and love for food.”
What winning would mean
Winning Eko Flavors would mean so much to me because it would be a powerful affirmation of how far I have come in my culinary journey. What started with cooking for the man who was once my boyfriend and is now my husband has grown into a passion, a food business and a platform where I share my creativity with others. Winning would give me greater confidence, visibility and credibility as a food creator and entrepreneur, while motivating me to dream even bigger. It would also be an opportunity to show that Nigerian food can be presented creatively, beautifully and in ways that excite both familiar and new audiences. Above all, it would be a reminder that passion, consistency and believing in yourself can turn something you love into something truly meaningful.
