Culinary journey
My Culinary journey started off by chance. It all started while I was in the University of Port Harcourt during my Bachelor degree programme. I wanted to find something that could give me money and then I applied for a cooking job which I got and not too long, I got a job at the prestigious 'Le Meridien', now Ogeyi Place Hotel in Port Harcourt as a line cook. And from there, what happened by chance now became a passion as I was astounded with the modus operandi of the kitchen at Ogeyi Place Hotel.
From there, I climbed the ladder and currently, I work as a chef in a construction company catering for Nigerians, Egyptians and Chinese national.
Cooking inspiration
The joy, the laughter, the smiles, the chuckles, the beam on everyone's faces after eating a delightful meal brings me so much joy.
And so for me, it is the experience gotten after a delightful meal that inspires my cooking.
Also, I have given myself the responsibility through God, to setup a non-governmental organization focused on alleviating hunger in our society.
I also want to become a Global Chef with the largest restaurant chain in Africa.
All these, is what makes me do what I do; Cooking.
Signature dish
Oh boy! Tis is one thing I like to talk about. You know why? I feel not many people know the methodology and it comes as a shocker to lot of people when I disclose my secret to a tasty vegetable soup.
As a Chef, I respect people's indigenous foods but then I give myself the opportunity to explore above the laws.
The method of preparing this food is similar to making Edikang-Ikong or Afang Soup.
But then the only difference is the varieties of vegetables that are included to make this signature soup.
In my signature vegatable soup, I add waterleaf, ugwu, afang and bitterleaf.
I know you might want to say "Oh, is that all, what makes unique?"
Well, it is getting the ratio of each vegetables to incorporate that makes it unique. Using just any amount of these vegetables would not make it tatste like my signature vegetable soup.
Why I want to participate
Well, I really want to win the money to upskill in the Culinary field and set up my own food business in the city of Abuja.
What winning would mean
It will mean a whole lot to me. Aside the money, winning will mean that I'd put so much effort into honing my skill. I barely got any formal culinary education before getting to where I am. I only enrolled into the prestigious Reddish Chronicles last month for a Continental Culinary Art Course. Before then, all knowledge of cooking I have acquired was partly through experiences and mainly self-taught.
