Culinary journey
My culinary journey began with a deep passion for authentic, homemade African flavors, eventually leading me to found LARA CAKES / FreshSips. I specialize in crafting nourishing meals and natural beverages—ranging from traditional dishes like Jollof rice and efo riro to handcrafted drinks like tigernut milk (Kunu Aya) and Zobo. Running a food and beverage enterprise has allowed me to blend traditional recipes with modern enterprise, serving clients who appreciate quality, health, and rich flavor.
Cooking inspiration
My cooking is inspired by the rich cultural heritage of Nigerian cuisine and a desire to bring people together through wholesome, comforting food and refreshing natural drinks. I love transforming everyday, farm-fresh ingredients into vibrant dishes and nutrient-packed beverages that nourish the body and delight the senses.
Signature dish
My signature pairing is rich, smoky party Jollof rice served alongside deeply flavorful local dishes, matched with a chilled bottle of my signature spiced Tigernut Milk. It’s a true celebration of authentic Nigerian flavors bold, comforting, and made entirely from scratch with fresh, wholesome ingredients.
Why I want to participate
Every time I cook for friends and family, seeing how much they love the food gives me so much joy. I've been actively looking for a cooking competition to join for the past few years, and I want to use this opportunity to bring my skills to a bigger stage, share my passion, and teach others what I love doing.
What winning would mean
Winning would mean validating years of searching for the right opportunity to compete, while proving to myself that the authentic cooking and care I pour into every meal resonate on a much bigger stage.
