Culinary journey
My culinary journey began about seven to eight years ago when I started assisting my aunt, who owns a catering business. Through helping her in the kitchen, I discovered my passion for cooking and knew it was something I wanted to pursue.
To build my skills, I took Chef Hilda Baci's online cooking class, which helped me secure jobs as a cook in professional kitchens. Although I now work as a safety consultant, my love for cooking has never changed.
Applying for the Eko Flavours competition is an opportunity for me to showcase my skills, learn from experienced chefs, and continue growing in my culinary career.
Cooking inspiration
What inspires my cooking is the joy of creating meals that bring people together and leave a lasting impression. I enjoy turning simple ingredients into dishes that are both delicious and beautifully presented. Every opportunity to cook allows me to learn, improve, and express my creativity, and that passion is what keeps me motivated.
Signature dish
My signature Nigerian dish is Ofada Rice with Ayamase Sauce and Tender Beef. I love this dish because it celebrates rich Nigerian flavors with a balance of heat, aroma, and texture. I focus on preparing a well-seasoned, flavorful ayamase sauce, perfectly cooked Ofada rice, and tender beef, finished with clean, attractive presentation. It reflects my passion for showcasing our local cuisine in a simple yet memorable way.
Why I want to participate
I want to participate in the Eko Flavours competition because it is an opportunity to challenge myself, showcase my culinary skills, learn from experienced chefs, and grow as a professional. I also hope to gain valuable exposure and represent the passion and dedication I have for Nigerian cuisine.
What winning would mean
Winning the Eko Flavours competition would be a significant milestone in my culinary journey. It would validate my hard work, boost my confidence, and open doors to new opportunities for learning, growth, and career advancement. More importantly, it would inspire me to keep pursuing excellence in the culinary industry.
