Business challenge
Eko Flavour would help me overcome the challenge of limited exposure and opportunities to showcase my culinary talent on a bigger platform. I have spent years developing my skills as a chef, creating recipes, managing kitchens, and sharing my passion for food, but I believe I am ready for a platform that will challenge me and expose my abilities to a wider audience. The competition would also push me beyond my comfort zone, strengthen my confidence, and help me grow creatively as a chef. Most importantly, it would give me an opportunity to tell my story, showcase the richness of Nigerian cuisine, and open doors to new opportunities in the culinary and hospitality industry.”

Culinary journey

My culinary journey has been a beautiful combination of passion, hard work, creativity, and continuous growth. What began as a love for cooking gradually developed into a professional career that has allowed me to express my creativity through food while building strong leadership and management skills.

Over the years, I have worked my way up to becoming a Head Chef, where I was responsible for managing daily kitchen operations, supervising staff, planning menus, developing recipes, maintaining food quality, and ensuring that meals were prepared and presented to a high standard. Working in a fast-paced kitchen environment taught me discipline, teamwork, organization, time management, and the ability to remain calm under pressure.

My experience has also allowed me to explore different areas of the culinary industry, including pastry, grilling and preparing proteins, menu planning, recipe development, and event catering. I particularly enjoy creating recipes that are both delicious and practical, while finding new ways to make familiar dishes exciting.

Beyond the professional kitchen, I have had the opportunity to teach cooking and recipe development online to students from different countries. This experience strengthened my communication skills and showed me that food can connect people across different cultures and backgrounds.

For me, being a chef is more than preparing meals. It is about creativity, consistency, hospitality, leadership, and creating experiences that people remember. I am proud of how far my culinary journey has taken me, and I am excited to continue learning, developing new skills, creating innovative recipes, and growing within the culinary and hospitality industry.

Cooking inspiration

What inspired me to go into cooking was my genuine love for food and the joy I get from creating something that brings people happiness. I have always been fascinated by how simple ingredients can be transformed into beautiful and delicious meals. Over time, cooking became more than just something I enjoyed it became a way for me to express my creativity, care for others, and connect with people. Seeing people enjoy my food and receiving positive feedback motivated me to take cooking seriously and develop it into a career. My journey has continued to inspire me to learn, experiment with new recipes, and grow as a chef.”

Signature dish

My signature dish is Asun basmati Rice, a flavorful combination of perfectly seasoned rice and smoky, spicy Asun-style grilled meat. I love this dish because it represents my cooking stylebold flavors, creativity, good presentation, and a balance between traditional Nigerian cuisine and my own personal touch. It is one of those dishes that allows me to showcase my skills in seasoning, grilling, and recipe development.”

Why I want to participate

“I want to participate in this cooking competition because cooking is more than a profession to me; it is my passion and a way of expressing my creativity. I see this competition as an opportunity to challenge myself, showcase my culinary skills, and introduce people to my unique style of cooking. I also want to learn from other talented chefs, gain new experiences, and push myself beyond my comfort zone. Most importantly, I want to use the platform to tell my culinary story, represent Nigerian cuisine proudly, and inspire others who are pursuing their passion in the culinary industry.”

What winning would mean

Winning would mean so much more to me than just receiving a prize. It would be a confirmation that my years of hard work, passion, creativity, and dedication to cooking have been worthwhile. It would give me the confidence and platform to take my culinary career to the next level, showcase Nigerian cuisine to a wider audience, and inspire other aspiring chefs to believe in themselves. Winning would also be a reminder that no matter where you start, with determination and consistency, you can turn your passion into something meaningful and successful.”
